August 3rd, 2009: A New Market Clearance for the FibroScan^®

The FibroScan^® and its three dedicated probes (S, M & XL) have recently received clearance from Health Canada.

Today, more than 10 centers are equipped with this medical device for clinical trials. However, this exam can be also routinely performed in Canadian patients from now on.

It is estimated that 240000 people are infected with chronic viral diseases and 5000 new HCV cases are detected every year. It is, thus, an alarming public health problem in Canada, which requires healthcare attention and regulatory measures.
