Meet the Inaugural Echosens Liver Health Super Shaper Award Recipients

   

We are honored to announce the winners of our inaugural Echosens Liver Health Super Shaper Award, first revealed on November 17 at AASLD: The Liver Meeting 2024. This award celebrates exceptional leaders making a lasting impact on liver health worldwide. These distinguished physicians have demonstrated unparalleled dedication and innovation in the fight against liver disease.

 

The Echosens Liver Health Super Shaper Award recognizes Dr. Catherine Williamson from Imperial College London and Dr. Jörn Schattenberg from the Saarland University Medical Center, each of whom will direct a $10,000 donation to a health charity of their choice, courtesy of Echosens.

 

This award also commemorates the remarkable achievements of the late Dr. Stephen Harrison, a long-time partner and friend of Echosens, with a special Echosens Liver Health Legacy Award in his honor.

Dr. Stephen Harrison, Pinnacle Clinical Research (United States) – Echosens Liver Health Legacy Award

The Echosens Liver Health Legacy Award honors Dr. Harrison’s profound influence in the field. Known as one of the most prominent hepatologists of recent decades, Dr. Harrison played an instrumental role in pioneering clinical research and advancing liver disease diagnostics and treatments. Dr. Harrison helped shape the modern approach to liver health, and his passing earlier this year is a great loss to the medical community. Echosens is forever grateful for Dr. Harrison’s leadership, dedication, and commitment to improving patient care.

Dr. Catherine Williamson, Professor of Women’s Health, Imperial College London (United Kingdom)

Dr. Williamson has been a trailblazer in researching liver disease in pregnancy, particularly focusing on intrahepatic cholestasis and hyperemesis gravidarum. Her groundbreaking work has led to advancements in genetic screening and new clinical trials aimed at improving care for mothers and children affected by liver disorders. Dr. Williamson has skillfully bridged obstetrics and hepatology to enhance patient outcomes, making her an invaluable asset to global liver health.
 

Dr. Jörn Schattenberg, Director of the Department of Internal Medicine II, Saarland University Medical Center (Germany)

A leader in the study of hepatology and steatotic liver disease, Dr. Schattenberg is recognized for his vast research and unwavering commitment to improving liver health. His extensive contributions to research initiatives and medical societies reflect his dedication to advancing knowledge and treatment in this field. Beyond his clinical contributions, Dr. Schattenberg is deeply invested in mentoring emerging hepatologists, shaping a future generation equipped to fight liver disease with expertise and insight.
