Echosens was born in 2001 from Laurent Sandrin’s thesis work at the ESPCI’s Waves and Acoustics Laboratory. Thanks to the development of the concept of impulse elastography, this doctoral student in physics succeeded in measuring the elasticity of soft media. Working with doctors at the Institut Mutualiste Montsouris, Laurent Sandrin decided to apply his invention to the evaluation of the hardness of the liver, which can be used to predict the health of the organ.
