Join us on World Liver Day 2024

World Liver Day, 19 April 2024
Join us in this important, international campaign

On Friday, 19 April, we will come together worldwide to commemorate World Liver Day, a vital occasion aimed at raising awareness about liver health and the prevalence of liver diseases worldwide.

On this day, let’s remember the importance of early detection. Regular screenings can help catch liver diseases in their early stages when treatment is most effective.

This initiative is led by the European Association for the Study of the Liver (EASL), the Asian Pacific Association for the Study of the Liver (APASL), the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD), the Asociacion Latinoamericana para el Estudio del Higado (ALEH), and the Society on Liver Disease in Africa (SOLDA), under the Healthy Livers, Healthy Lives Coalition umbrella. Echosens sponsors this special day.

Why a World Liver Day?

The liver is an unsung hero, silently performing over 500 crucial functions in the body, from filtering toxins to aiding in digestion and metabolism.

Despite its significance, liver health often remains neglected, leading to staggering statistics: 1.5 billion people suffered from chronic liver disease globally in 2017, with 2 million lives lost each year.

Campaign aims

World Liver Day aims to unite communities, medical professionals, and policymakers worldwide to address the growing burden of liver diseases.
This year’s goal is to underscore the urgency for concerted action in mitigating the impact of liver diseases and promoting liver health awareness on a global scale.

The World Liver Day activities carried out under the umbrella of Healthy Livers, Healthy Lives, are supported by Boehringer Ingelheim, Echosens, MSD, and Novo Nordisk. Our industry partners have had no input into the content of the World Liver Day activities.
